Welcome to the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management, Nancy

The Faculty of Law, Economics and Management of Nancy welcomes international students every year through exchange agreements and international partnerships. This page helps incoming students identify the courses and programmes available in English at the Nancy campus, according to their field of study, academic level and mobility semester.

Most courses at the Faculty are taught in French. However, several courses and some programmes are taught in English and may be open to international students, depending on their field of study, academic level, language skills and exchange agreement. For each English-taught offer, the catalogue provides the following information: the degree programme concerned, the academic level, the semester, the approximate teaching period, the course titles, the number of ECTS credits and the relevant academic contact for the discipline.

Incoming exchange students may choose courses taught in French or in English, subject to having at least a B1 level in the language of instruction. The course selection must be confirmed in the learning agreement with the relevant academic contact.

Students should always check with their home university and with the relevant academic contact at the Faculty before finalising their learning agreement.

Academic calendar and application deadlines

The French academic year is divided into two semesters. Odd-numbered semesters are generally taught during the autumn semester, while even-numbered semesters are generally taught during the spring semester.

This second-year Master’s programme provides advanced training in market finance, quantitative methods, financial data analysis and sustainable finance. Fully taught in English, it prepares students for careers in financial risk analysis, portfolio management, financial economics, data science and international finance. All courses open to incoming exchange students in this programme take place during the autumn semester, for a total of 37 ECTS credits.

Short programmes and Summer Schools

In addition to semester-based courses and degree programmes, the Faculty may also offer short international programmes, including Summer Schools. Summer Schools are short academic programmes designed for international and French students who wish to follow intensive courses over a limited period. They are not part of the regular semester course catalogue presented on this page.

Admission procedure for exchange students

International exchange students must first be selected by their home university within the framework of an existing cooperation agreement with the University of Lorraine. Once nominated, students will receive information from the University of Lorraine and from the Faculty regarding their application, administrative registration, course selection and arrival in France.

Students should prepare their learning agreement carefully and make sure that the selected courses are compatible with their academic level, language skills and home university requirements.

The University of Lorraine provides practical support for international students preparing their arrival in France. The Welcome Desk can help students with administrative procedures such as residence permits, health insurance, opening a bank account and housing-related questions. Learn French during your stay

International students are encouraged to learn French during their stay in Nancy, both for academic integration and everyday life. The University of Lorraine offers French as a Foreign Language courses through DéFLE-Lorraine. Several formats may be available, including intensive semester courses, flexible courses adapted to students’ timetables and specific modules for Erasmus+ students. At the Faculty, students can also use the Espace Langues, located within the Faculty itself, in Building H. The Espace Langues provides access to paper and digital language-learning resources, as well as support for autonomous language learning. Students are advised to contact the relevant services as soon as they arrive in order to choose the most suitable French-learning option.
